Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange

Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange was a brilliant yet egotistical neurosurgeon who prioritized his standing over helping people. After a car accident caused irreparable nerve damage to his hands, he exhausted Western medicine options. Desperate, Strange traveled to Kamar-Taj in Nepal, where the Ancient One introduced him to the world of magic and dimensional transcendence. Despite his physical limitations, Strange excelled due to his keen intellect and latent talent. He became embroiled in a conflict with the Zealots, ultimately defeating them and saving Earth from Dormammu. With the demise of several key sorcerers, Strange abandoned his old life to become the new master of the New York Sanctum and Earth’s protector against inter-dimensional threats.

  • Creates a series of floating platforms for Star Lord to step on so that he could plant a bomb on Thanos’ back. (source) (IW)
  • Ensnares Thanos’ hand with a number of metallic bands, tougher and stronger than an eldritch whip, as part of a combined effort to incapacitate him long enough to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from his hand. (source) (IW)
  • Can take inanimate objects with him into the astral plane, such as books to maximize his study time as his physical body slept. (source) (DS)
  • Despite being intangible, astral bodies can affect the physical world to a limited extent, causing objects to rattle and interfering with electrical equipment. Strange also guided Christine’s needle by placing his astral finger on his real body, causing that section to glow. (source) (DS, Second link: https://imgur.com/gKIOr1M.gifv, Third link: https://i.imgur.com/f7LdzRV.gifv)
  • Astral bodies can interact with other astral bodies the same way physical bodies do to one another. While physical injuries do not hinder astral forms, harm done to an astral body will affect their physical body and can result in their death. (source) (DS)
  • Astral forms can make themselves perceivable to the physical world by crossing through a Mirror Dimension gateway. (source) (DS)
  • Hitting one’s physical body with a large surge of energy will cause their astral body to expel that energy dangerously. He exploits a defibrillator’s electric current to defeat a Zealot in the astral plane. (source) (DS)
  • Time moves much slower in this state to the point that people appear frozen and lightning is perceived in slow-motion. (source) (DS (likely enacted by Ancient One), Second link: https://redd.it/ibpikc)

  • Disguises the Time Stone as a star above Titan before plucking it out of the sky to surrender to Thanos. (source) (IW)
  • Opens fissures in the Earth beneath some of Thanos’ troops, causing them to rise in the air before dragging them into the ground with tendrils and sealing them inside. (source) (EG)
  • Prevents an expanse of lakewater from flooding the battlefield by configuring it into a massive vortex. (source) (EG)

Artifacts & Relics

  • The Cloak of Levitation uses its collar to wipe off Strange’s tears. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation smacks Tony Stark for being disrespectful. (source) (IW)
  • The Cloak of Levitation can register and likewise convey human emotions such as surprise and annoyance. (source) (IW)
  • The Cloak of Levitation chose Doctor Strange as its wearer, which was described by the Ancient One as ’no minor feat’ given its fickle nature. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation allows Strange to perform an enhanced leap. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation catches Strange when he’s kicked off a staircase, stopping his fall and placing itself on his shoulders to levitate him back up. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation protects Strange when falling great heights by slowing his descent. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation helps Strange keep his footing as he dodges a chunk of debris. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation flies from the streets of Hong Kong to the depths of the Dark Dimension in a short amount of time. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation frees Strange from Ebony Maw’s restraints and flies his unconscious body away from the alien invader before getting snagged on a telekinetically-controlled street lamp, causing his body to slip past. (source) (IW)
  • The Cloak of Levitation keeps Strange on balance when knocked off his feet in combat. (source) (IW)
  • During the battle of Earth, the Cloak is shown almost matching the speeds of Iron Man, Falcon and various metahumans. (source) (EG)
  • The Cloak of Levitation smacks Kaecilius off his feet. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation saves a critically-injured Strange from a Zealot by wrapping itself around the attacker’s face and banging his head against the floor, giving Strange ample time to escape through a portal. The Zealot had to resort to astral projection to escape its grasp. (source) (DS, Second link: https://i.imgur.com/S4oYgWy.gifv)
  • The Cloak of Levitation incapacitates a hostile Drax by wrapping itself around his head long enough for Iron Man to hold him down, the former failing to pull it off. This is a testament to the Cloak’s durability, given that Drax can tear metal with his bare hands. (source) (IW, Drax’s strength: https://i.imgur.com/HsMGE9h.gifv (GotG))
  • The Cloak of Levitation wraps itself around Thanos’ hand to keep him from using the Infinity Gauntlet. (source) (IW)
  • The Cloak of Levitation saves Strange by blocking Kaecilius’ strikes. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation saves Strange from being slashed by Kaecilius’ shards by dragging him away. (source) (DS)
  • The Cloak of Levitation blocks Kaecilius’ blindsided punch when Strange’s back is turned. (source) (DS)

  • The Eye of Agamotto shifts a half-eaten apple forwards and backwards through time; from freshly uneaten to fully-eaten and molded. (source) (DS)
  • The Eye of Agamotto reverses time on the Book of Cagliostro to restore its torn pages. (source) (DS)
  • The Eye of Agamotto undoes the destruction of the Hong Kong Sanctum by rewinding time. Getting knocked unconscious for a brief moment causes the temporal rewind to halt, thus freezing time in place. (source) (DS, Second link: https://imgur.com/HCHt0Dg)
  • The Eye of Agamotto can free others from the effects of its ongoing temporal manipulations, such as Mordo and Wong, whereas the Zealots did so on their own. (source) (DS, Second link: https://i.imgur.com/56yt2UJ.gifv, Third link: https://i.imgur.com/0PwIKtQ.gifv)
  • The Eye of Agamotto can function in dimensions that do not adhere to the same linear understanding of time. By introducing time into the Dark Dimension, Strange trapped Dormammu in an endless time loop that reset every time he died at the hands of the primordial entity until he agreed to bargain. (source) (DS)
  • Uses the Eye of Agamotto to peer into the future, witnessing 14,000,605 possible outcomes of the upcoming battle with Thanos. With only one outcome securing victory, Strange willingly gave up the Stone to Thanos to spare Tony Stark’s life and give way for a new timeline where they won. WoG states that Strange had to physically live through each timeline and reset it before he dies, compiling his knowledge taken from prior outcomes into each new attempt. (source) (IW, Second link: https://redd.it/id1fwr, Third link: https://redd.it/id1en6, WoG: https://imgur.com/usrPZsG (RB))
  • Messing with the Eye’s power is incredibly risky because it involves tampering with the natural order of things, which can result in a slew of disastrous temporal and spatial instabilities. (source) (DS)
  • Ebony Maw prevented the Eye’s use by restraining Strange’s arms before he can activate it. (source) (IW)
  • Created his first Sling Ring portal to make it back to Kamar-Taj from Mount Everest. (source) (DS)
  • Creates a Sling Ring portal to the Hong Kong Sanctum from Kamar-Taj. (source) (DS)
  • Creates a Sling Ring portal to Norway from the New York Sanctum. (source) (TR)
  • Trapped Loki in some sort of ceaseless void where he fell for 30 minutes until he was sent back to Earth through another portal. (source) (TR)
  • Creates dozens of Sling Ring portals across the planet and the universe to unite an army of heroes for the final battle against Thanos, including places such as Wakanda, Titan, Contraxia and Asgard. Strange likely accomplished this feat with the aid of one or more other mystics. (source) (EG)
  • Opens a number of small Sling Ring portals in the Kamar-Taj library to reach through and steal books on astral projection. (source) (DS)
  • Can create a Sling Ring portal from a remote location so long as visual aid is provided. He placed a portal beneath Loki’s feet from inside the New York Sanctum using a scrying mirror, leaving a card in its place for Thor to find him. (source) (TR, Scrying mirror source: https://i.imgur.com/3YTJzoF.jpg (IWP))
  • Can move existing Sling Ring portals with a wave of his hand to force others through it. (source) (TR)
  • Uses Sling Ring portals in conjunction with Wong to send back Ebony Maw’s projectiles. (source) (IW)
  • Creates a sequence of Sling Ring portals for Spider-Man to leap through and strike Thanos from all sides. (source) (IW)
  • Opens a Sling Ring portal above Thanos to let Mantis drop on his head and mindscrew him. (source) (IW)
  • While the use of one’s hands are not required to create Sling Ring portals, the correct arm movements corresponding to the portal’s formation apparently are as interrupting them will stop the portal from fully forming. (source) (DS, Second link: https://i.imgur.com/cR2FMWe.gifv)
  • It’s implied that astral bodies can utilize Sling Ring portals, meaning portals function similarly in the astral plane. (source) (DS)
  • A Sling Ring portal he created earlier is shown still intact hours later after losing consciousness and nearly dying. (source) (DS, Second link: https://imgur.com/M9qMcJd)
  • Certain Sling Ring portals may require extra requirements. Strange required a strand of Thor’s hair to transport him to his father’s exact location. (source) (TR)
  • If an object is obstructing the outer or interior of a Sling Ring portal, the portal will slice through it. This is demonstrated when Strange inadvertently cuts a taxi in half whilst opening a portal and when Wong closes one around Cull Obsidian’s arm, chopping it off. (source) (IW, Second link: https://i.imgur.com/GIMSQ6D.gifv)
  • Has access to the Dark Scepter, which weakens sorcerers by absorbing their light. (source) (DSP, Second link: https://imgur.com/a/QtTUUgn)
  • Has access to the Rotunda of Gateways, a trio of portals that lead to various different locations across Earth. (source) (DS)
  • Uses the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak to instantly restrain and gag Kaecillius. (source) (DS)

  • Has access to the Brazier of Bom’Galiath, though he doesn’t know how to use it. (source) (DS)
  • Has access to the Cauldron of the Cosmos. (source) (IW)
  • The Sanctum Sanctorum, where Strange resides, is connected to a hub room at Kamar-Taj that gives direct access to the Hong Kong and London Sanctums. Together, the Sanctums generate a protective shield around the globe in the case of extraterrestrial threats. (source) (DS)
