Erik Stevens, Killmonger

Erik Stevens, Killmonger

Erik, also known as N’Jadaka, was raised in California by his father, the Wakandan prince N’Jobu. One night he found his only known family ripped away from him, King T’Chaka having been forced to kill him after confronting him about aiding Ulysses Klaue steal some of the nation’s vibranium before opting to leave Erik behind without a word. Now fueled with a hatred for the country’s government, as well as with the question of why such a powerful nation would continue to let his brothers and sisters around the world continue to be enslaved, Erik joined the army, racking up an incredible kill count and earning him the moniker of Killmonger. Later he would join with Klaue only to betray and kill him, using his body as leverage to invoke his birthright to challenge T’Challa for the Wakandan throne.

Strength

  • Lifts a woman over his head with one hand (source)
  • Throws a woman a considerable distance (source)
  • Stands up while three members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanda’s elite female guard, are trying to keep him kneeling with electrified spears (source)

  • Gets tackled off of a ledge by T’Challa, then exchanges blows with him before falling on a platform. He recovers fast enough to already be jumping down on T’Challa when he lands a bit further below him (source)
  • Takes several attacks from vibranium disks and sonic blasts without too much issue (source)
  • Tanks two sonic blasts, and while he’s hurt and forced down by extended bursts from the same weapons he’s able to grab a spear to destroy the weapons, instantly recovering once they stop firing (source)
  • These blasters could send regular people flying back great distances with their blasts (source)
  • Stands up while being constantly shocked by three spears (source)

Speed

  • Jumps over a disk thrown at him (source)

Skill

  • Earned his name upon joining the Navy SEALs due to the amount of kills he got in Afghanistan. After this he joined a ghost unit that went off the grid to conduct assassinations and take down governments (source)
  • While neither had the power from the heart-shaped herb, defeats T’Challa in one-on-one ritual combat and only fails to kill him due to outside intervention (source)
  • Fights off four members of the Dora Milaje (source)
  • Killing one and continuing to fight off three others. One of these was Okoye, who was described by Nakia as being Wakanda’s greatest warrior, though T’Challa was thought to be dead at the time (source)
  • Fights off four members of the Dora Milaje (source)

Equipment

  • Panther Habit: A vibranium suit worn by the ruler or expected next in line to the Wakandan throne as the nation’s defender, the Black Panther. This particular version of the suit was created by Shuri, upgrading on T’Challa’s own design used in Civil War
  • Is stored in the teeth of a necklace and can be activated with a thought of its user. It burns through any clothes the person may be wearing at the time (source)
  • Can remove only the suit’s helmet while leaving the rest intact (source)
  • Can remove only the suit’s helmet while leaving the rest intact (source)
  • Stores kinetic energy of physical blows in the suit, allowing it to be redistributed later. While this can be seemingly activated by striking the same spot twice, it can also release an energy pulse around the suit utilising all of it stored energy (source) (BP)
  • Sends three women binding him with electrified spears flying back great distances (source)
  • Sends three women binding him with electrified spears flying back great distances (source)
  • Clashes with T’Challa’s suit, creating a large energy burst which sends both flying back (source)
  • Vibranium in its raw form is rendered inert and safe to transport at high speeds when subjected to sonic force. In his Black Panther suit, when applied with constant sonic dampening, the suit constantly disappears and reforms in patches as it tries to keep its shape (source)
  • It’s likely that this suit is functionally identical to T’Challa’s upgraded suit, only with a different aesthetic. As such, these are abilities of T’Challa’s suit from the same movie (source)
  • Gets sent flying a great distance after being rammed into by a war rhino, tumbling briefly on the ground before slamming into rocks (source)
  • One such rhino smashed through the flaming wreckage of a crashed jet (source)
  • Is bulletproof and protects T’Challa from the explosive from Killmonger’s rifle, though this force causes the stored kinetic energy to harmlessly discharge (source)
  • Only slightly phased by a blast from Klaue’s hand, though the suit needs to reform where it hit (source)
  • Klaue’s blasts can destroy bulletproof vibranium cars (source)
  • Seemingly utilizes shoes which absorb all sound it creates (source)
  • Seen wielding two bladed weapons in Wakanda, though he barely uses them (source)
  • A pistol (source)
  • An assault rifle (source)
  • Can launch an explosive which throws T’Challa back into a wall, damaging it and causing it to lose its kinetic charge (source)
  • A grenade (source)
  • A pack of explosives, used to destroy a wall (source)
  • A bullet proof vest that’s unharmed from a pistol shot (source)
