The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Ganondorf

Ganondorf

Unlike many of his other incarnations, Ganondorf’s initial downfall wasn’t due to the reincarnation of Link and Zelda. Instead, he was captured before his plot to take over Hyrule could come to fruition, and sentenced to death by the six sages. Upon being stabbed with a sword, he received the Triforce of Power, allowing him to survive, break free from manacles, and kill one sage. The remaining sages sealed him in the Twilight Realm, where he met Zant and granted him power, enabling Zant to conquer the Twilight Realm and invade Hyrule, facilitating Ganondorf’s takeover. It is repeatedly stated that Zant’s power was bequeathed by Ganondorf, so all of Zant’s magic feats are performable by Ganondorf as well; see Zant’s Respect Thread.
