Mettle

Mettle, real name Ken Mack, was a member of the founding class of Avengers Academy, Hank Pym’s hero school. Originally just your normal Hawaiian surfer bro, a hit to the face tore off part of his skin, revealing a skull of living iridium. Looking for someone who could return him to normal, he found Norman Osborn, who instead accelerated the transformation. After Osborn was revealed as a villain and arrested, Mettle was taken in by the Avengers alongside several others Osborn had experimented on, and was trained to be a hero.
