Mysterio

Quentin Beck, known as Mysterio, initially presented himself as a soldier from Earth-833, a world destroyed by elemental creatures, claiming he escaped to Earth-616 to stop them. However, this was a deception. In reality, Beck was a disgruntled former Stark Industries engineer whose holographic projection technology (BARF) was dismissed by Tony Stark. Laid off due to mental instability, Beck teamed up with other former Stark employees to create the persona of Mysterio, using his holographic technology combined with cloaking and weaponized drones to generate flawless illusions. These illusions can stage superpowered fights with realistic collateral damage and allow him to operate remotely through his persona. The illusion only breaks if someone can somehow get inside of the illusions or if they have some sort of preternatural 6th sense. Later, Beck gains access to EDITH, a voice-activated pair of glasses capable of monitoring and altering communication data and controlling defense drones. The drones are equipped with cameras that Beck can manually look through, and Beck can control clouds of drones both manually and using EDITH’s voice controls. It is important to note that due to the mind-bending nature of Mysterio’s powers, many apparent feats could be mere illusions, and it is largely impossible to know for sure.
Beck
- Created the holographic technology at the core of the drones himself. (source)
- Takes a punch from Spider-Man to the face, shattering his helmet, and seems relatively unharmed. (source)
Pre-EDITH: Damage Output
- Demolishes a small town. (source)
- Flips a car over and snaps a telephone pole in half. (source)
- Creates a massive burst of water that displaces several boats. (source)
- Carves through the sides of buildings and demolishes a bridge. (source)
- Punches through a large bridge. (source)
- Dislodges a bell tower with a strike, topples it with a second. (source)
- Explodes a carousel. (source)
- Splits the ground. (source)
- Carves up a cobblestone street, spraying rocks into the air that crack a windshield. (source)
Pre-EDITH: Illusion Effects
- Causes ripples in the water, scaring crabs, and actually draining water from the Venice canals. (source)
- Shoves aside a large boat. (source)
- Creates some big, fiery explosions. (source)
- The fire elemental flinches and responds to Spider-Man throwing large rocks at it, the rocks even appearing on its body for Beck to shoot. They also don’t seem to impact with anything else after being thrown. (source)
- Creates a visual explosion across several city blocks. (source)
Pre-EDITH: The Little Details
- When the water elemental attacks things, they actually get wet. (source)
- The water elemental throws ‘Mysterio’ through a boat, actually creating a hole where he passed through. (source)
- Creates seismic activity for SHIELD to pick up when the fire elemental arrives, achieved using strategic EMPs. (source)
- Spider-Man shooting his webs at the fire elemental (at the very least appears to) makes the webs burn. (source)
Post-EDITH: General Capabilities
- Absolutely goons on Spider-Man with a pre-made cinematic. (source) (Of note: Fury picking up and driving Spider-Man seems to be an illusion, as the next time we see Fury he seems none the wiser about Mysterio or the elementals. The illusions for the most part are able to physically knock around Spider-Man in numerous different subtle ways (such as when he seemed to be dogpiled by his reflections). Mysterio was able to make a warehouse look like an advanced government building, inside and out. Mysterio can perfectly recreate a person’s appearance and voice. Mysterio is skilled at putting illusions in strategic locations to make Spider-Man hurt himself by attacking. Mysterio can block out other light sources in his surroundings.)
Post-EDITH: Drone Physicals
- One drone tackles Spider-Man, sending him flying. (source)
- One drone dodges Spider-Man’s web shooters. (source)
- The drones are deployed from a satellite outside of Earth’s orbit, and can easily travel to ground level in a short amount of time. (source)
- One already damaged drone gets hit over the head with a mace, and becomes unbalanced but isn’t damaged. (source)
- A single drone is obliterated with a rocket launcher. (source)
Post-EDITH: Damage Output
- One shot from a drone sends Spider-Man flying back, and further with another shot. (source)
- Creates lightning strikes that tip over a double-decker bus, which is then lifted and blown up. (source)
- Can fly underwater, and shoot out bursts that crumble sections of a brick wall. (source)
- Sends several cars flying with a shockwave. (source)
- A few drones shoot rockets that blow up a jet. (source)
- Have flamethrowers, and blows up one of the arches on the London Bridge. (source)
- Uses a laser beam to carve through a foot thick metal door. (source)
