Onomatopoeia - The Hero Killer

Named for his verbal tic of verbally repeating sounds of the world around him, Onomatopoeia is a serial killer of the most dangerous game: superheroes. Generally targeting rookie or non-powered heroes, Onomatopoeia kills his way up to the likes of Green Arrow and even Batman, using his strategic genius and excellent physical condition to hunt and kill whoever he chooses as his latest target.

Strength

  • Cleanly lopped the head off of a thug with an axe. (source) (Though the feat is not shown on-panel, it is confirmed to have been Onomatopoeia using an axe)
  • Knocks out Black Spider with a single kick to the face. (source) (While disguised as Baphomet)

Hand-to-hand combat skills

  • Snaps an arrow with his teeth and knocks Green Arrow off-balance. (source)
  • Surprises and slashes Batman across the chest. (source)
  • Takes down two thugs. (source) (While dressed as Baphomet)

Marksmanship

  • Shoots the moving target of Virago with a dart. (source)
  • Kills a doctor and nurse with perfect headshots. (source)
  • Wounds then knocks out Black Canary. (source)
  • Destroys Green Arrow’s bow with a single shot. (source)
  • Gets into a shoot-out with Deadshot before shooting him in the head. (source)
  • Shoots Batman in the head. (source)

Agility, speed and stealth

  • Sneaks into Buckeye’s home, kills his wife, and effortlessly has the hero at his mercy. (source)
  • Surprises and nearly murders Connor Hawke with an axe, then shoots him in the head. (source)
  • Sneaks up on and shoots Batman in the shoulder. (source)
  • Escapes over a rooftop, dodging a batarang. (source)
  • Saves Batman’s life by dumping holy water on an unexpecting Etrigan. (source) (While disguised as Baphomet)

Durability

  • Takes 4 arrows to various parts of his body and continues to duel Green Arrow. (source)
  • Is hit with 2 batarangs in the chest with little effect. (source)
  • Is up and ready to fight after taking a severe beating from Batman. (source)
  • Quickly recovers after being blasted by Crazy Quilt’s disorienting helmet and chases the villain down. (source) (In his Baphomet disguise)
  • Takes a hit from Mr. Freeze and quickly recovers to smash and roll through a glass window. (source) (While playing as Baphomet)

Scheming

  • Lures Virago into a trap and kills her. (source)
  • Breaks Joker out of Arkham Asylum to serve as bait to hunt Batman. (source)
  • Pretends to be a rookie hero called Baphomet to gain Batman’s trust, learn his identity, and kill his wife, Silver. (source)

Manipulation and charisma

  • Leads a double life as a loving family man, easily keeping his family blind to his criminal life with lies and deceit. (source)
  • Fools Batman with his Baphomet persona, even to the point of being comforted by the Caped Crusader. (source)
  • Fools Tim Drake with Baphomet disguise. (source)

Quick thinking and cleverness

  • Quickly gauges how an arrow has trapped him before snapping the arrow and allowing himself to fall, enabling his escape. (source)
  • After realizing he’s beaten, fatally stabs the Joker, knowing Batman will choose to save the clown rather than pursue his killer. (source)

Miscellaneous

  • Has killed at least 9 heroes halfway through his storyline. (source)
  • Is on the receiving end of Joker’s “appreciation” for breaking him out of Arkham. (source)
