SCP-058 - Heart of Darkness

SCP-058 is an animate, large bovine heart with various arthropod-like appendages and tentacles. It’s highly hostile to all forms of life, and when it was discovered, it had decimated a good portion of an entire town, while also killing hundreds of individuals, although it was eventually stopped after being pinned under masonry from the buildings it had collapsed. Inside of Foundation care, it was given the “Keter” designation due to extreme difficulty containing it, with it orchestrating various attempts and even some successful containment breaches. It mainly attacks through bullrushing opponents with its extremely high speed and acceleration before eviscerating them with its barbed tentacles. It also attacks through a fluid that emerges from its stinger, which works as an incendiary.
Appearance/Physiology
- Appears as a bovine heart with four arthropod-esque legs, four tentacles that it can control the length of that all have razor-sharp spines, and a “stinger” on its superior vena cava. (source)
- Its spines are described as “biological diamond razors”. (source)
- Can speak complete gibberish despite having no physical capacity for it, with no correlation to what it’s doing at the moment. (source)
- Its “stinger” can eject a fluid that destroyed 70% of a town over an indeterminate timeframe, damaging structures and killing people in a way that suggested it produced flames. (source)
- Leaves a group of Mobile Task Force agents and SCP-244-ARC smoldering due to the fluid from its stinger, and sets off the site’s automatic sprinklers. (source)
- Described as being the size of a car. (source)
- More specifically, closer to the size of a minivan. (source)
Strength
- Causes its containment chamber walls to bend and break repeatedly throughout a day; containment chamber walls are made of 3-meter-thick reinforced steel and 10-meter thick concrete. (source)
- Mutilates cows regularly as part of its containment. (source)
- Breaches its own containment chamber, then proceeds to breach containment for a variety of other SCPs, including 682, which is contained in a chamber whose walls are made of 25 cm reinforced steel. (source)
- Murders a puppy produced by SCP-1459. (source)
- One of the researchers considered that a meter-thick steel wall would only slow it down enough for a nuclear failsafe to activate if it escaped. (source)
- Dents a metal box containing it in rapid succession, ruptures it with a tentacle that removes a man’s arm with a whip, then folds it open shortly after. (source)
- Rips apart members of a Mobile Task Force and crushes an instance of SCP-244-ARC, which is a 1.35-meter diameter sphere constructed of various alloyed anomalous metals, mostly made of SCP-143, an organic metal alloy harder than any man-made substance. (source)
- Sends the tip of one of its tentacles right through someone’s skull. (source)
- Throws half of a car at the Moon Champion. (source)
- Destroys a gearrender (a robotized human) and begins strangling soldiers. (source)
Speed
- Tentacles can be whipped at a distance of 3.2 meters at speeds of 320 kilometers per hour. (source)
- Can move at high speeds on horizontal and vertical surfaces, reaching 90 kilometers per hour in short bursts of 200 meters, and can accelerate to this speed in 2 seconds. (source)
Durability
- Survives but is incapacitated by a large amount of masonry from one of the buildings it was destroying falling on it. (source)
- Withstands but is pinned under an M1 Abrams tank running over it. (source)
- Takes two seconds of sustained gunfire from Mobile Task Force Nu-7 and SCP-244-ARC, which has a mounted 52 barrel minigun loaded with .50 Cal ammunition. (source)
- The detonation of several M18 Claymore anti-personnel mines and a sustained assault from machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, and [DATA EXPUNGED] severely damages and incapacitates it, although it survives. (source) (Limitation)
- Is fine as the Moon Champion bursts through a tank riding it. (source)
- Takes a kick from the Moon Champion that sends it tumbling back towards the Earth as he ascends out of the atmosphere. (source)
