Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors

Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors

Ever since Avatar Kyoshi separated Kyoshi Island from the mainland continent and trained the local women in the arts of self defense, the Kyoshi Warriors embodied an ethic of discipline and self-sufficiency. Long after Kyoshi’s death the Kyoshi Warriors continued honoring her legacy with clothing and makeup that paid homage to their patron Avatar, protecting their local island with an isolationist fervor. During the Hundred Year War, the group followed the leadership of Suki. It was under Suki’s guidance that they first came into contact with the new Avatar, inspiring them to branch out and help the world at large. While Suki became a valued member of Team Avatar, the Kyoshi Warriors continued to wield their talents in service of the world beyond their island. The Kyoshi Warriors are master martial artists, specializing in using their opponent’s strengths against them. They often employ a variety of weaponry, both conventional and improvised. After the acrobat Ty Lee joined their ranks, the Kyoshi Warriors integrated chi-blocking into their combat style, allowing them to paralyze limbs and disable bending with strikes and nerve pinches.
