Syndrome

Syndrome

Buddy was an exceptionally intelligent young man who was the self-proclaimed ‘Number One Fan’ of Mr. Incredible. After being slighted by Mr. Incredible and being refused the position of his sidekick ‘Incrediboy’, Buddy began plotting his revenge, selling his inventions to foreign powers and using this newfound wealth to develop prototype weaponized robots. These ‘Omnidroids’ would be tested in combat against scores of superheroes until finally Buddy (now self-dubbed Syndrome) would pit the latest Omnidroid against Mr. Incredible. After defeating him in combat and imprisoning him and his family on a remote island Syndrome would send his Omnidroid into a populated city with the eventual goal of masquerading as a hero, defeating it, and profiteering off of the presumed newfound fame, though he would be defeated by the Incredible family and Frozone and killed in the ensuing attack on their household.

Strength

  • Supports Mr. Incredible’s weight as a child while in flight, though he claims the extra weight is wrecking his flight pattern (source)
  • Knocks people over while flying into them (source)
  • Supports the weight of Jack-Jack in metal form, though it briefly encumbers him (source)

Speed

  • Dodges a tree trunk thrown at him by Mr. Incredible from very short range and catches him with his zero-point beam before he can close (source)
  • Dodges a point-blank arm strike from the Omnidroid (source)

Durability

  • While out of control from losing one of his rocket boots, slams into a building at high speed and is only knocked unconscious (source)
  • Holds onto Jack-Jack in fire form and takes an attack from him in demon form (source)

Intelligence

  • Tracks down Mr. Incredible’s car by himself as a child (source)
  • Invented rocket boots as a child (source)
  • Developed the series of Omnidroids; the latest of which easily defeats Mr. Incredible 1-on-1 after Syndrome made some major modifications (source)
  • The Omnidroids as a whole boast a body count of at least 15 other superheroes from what is shown, with powers ranging from atomic density manipulation, telepathy, psychic foresight and thought control to elemental control (source)
  • Correctly deduces that Mr. Incredible hid behind the bones of Gazerbeam after his scanning drone failed to detect him (source)

Equipment

  • As an adult, his newer rocket boots allow him to quickly catch up to Mr. Incredible after having flung him a large distance away (source)
  • Zero-point energy beams (which he invented) are used to immobilize and ragdoll opponents and objects. He can use it to fling opponents as strong as Mr. Incredible a very large distance (source)
  • Can immobilize multiple super-powered opponents at once including Violet (source)
  • Easily catches, hoists, and throws a flying truck, suspending its momentum (source)
  • A blast from his gauntlet destroys the ceiling above him (source)
  • A small depth charge that, when detonated underwater, creates an explosion that displaces a massive amount of water and sends Mr. Incredible flying (source)
  • A scanning probe that detects signs of life (though it fails to register Mr. Incredible behind a skeleton) (source)
