Tartarus

Tartarus

Tartarus was Chieftain of the Brutes for the entire Covenant during their war with the humans. He acted as the Hierarchs chief enforcer and eventually became the Prophet of Truth’s second-in-command. He was loyal to the Prophets above all else and strived to ascend the Brutes to the peak of the Covenants caste system, eventually leading the civil war against the Elites who held that position. Height: 9'1" (276.7 cm). Weight: 1390 lbs (630.2 kg).

Strength

  • Grapples a Brute Chieftain and sends him sprawling across a room. (source) (Halo: Contact Harvest Ch 20)
  • Crushes a Brute Chieftain’s skull with a swing from his hammer. (source) (Halo: Contact Harvest Ch 20)
  • Crushes a Grunt into pulp with his hammer. (source) (Halo: Contact Harvest Ch 22)
  • Throws a Forerunner monitor hard enough to knock Sgt. Johnson off his feet. (source) (Halo 2)

Durability

  • His energy shields easily deflect a clip from an M6 pistol. (source) (Halo: Contact Harvest Ch 15)
  • Tanks a swing from the Fist of Rukt hammer (pre-gravity modifications) on his knee. (source) (Halo: Contact Harvest Ch 20)
  • Chieftain armor can tank sustained fire from two dozen MA5 Assault Rifles; Tartarus eventually acquires this armor. (source) (Halo: Contact Harvest Ch 15)

Marksmanship

Fist of Rukt

  • The Fist of Rukt is Tartarus’s custom hammer, massive even by Brute standards, almost as large as Tartarus himself; first gravity hammer developed and archetype for all future ones; able to manipulate gravity. (source) (Halo: Waypoint - Fist of Rukt)
