Thanos

Thanos

Born on the planet Titan, Thanos foresaw its ruin due to overpopulation and proposed randomly culling half the population, but was dismissed as mad. Titan ultimately fell, motivating Thanos to travel the universe, spreading his philosophy and using the Chitauri to halve populations on other worlds. Believing the Infinity Stones would allow him to erase half of all life instantly, he collected them to save the universe, succeeding in the Snap before destroying the stones to prevent reversal. Killed thereafter, a past version of Thanos learned of time travel efforts to undo his actions and sought to remake the universe entirely.

  • While weakened from using the Infinity Stones, gets blasted by a beam of energy from Captain Marvel before being tackled to the ground (source) (End)
  • Takes a barrage of attacks from the Mark L Iron Man suit, including small back-mounted missiles and physical strikes (some strong enough to knock him back into stone, shattering it), with it all only amounting to a small cut on his cheek (source) (IW)
  • Is struck by lightning from Stormbreaker, driving him through the ground, before having the axe thrown into his chest, driven further in by Thor (source) (IW)

  • Takes a series of strikes from the Hulk before getting slammed into a wall several times, immediately after being able to overpower Hulk (source) (IW)
  • Has a massive, multi-storey tall object pushed onto him by Iron Man before destroying it with the Power Stone, more angry than hurt from the experience. As the gravity all over Titan was variable, it’s unclear exactly if or how much this was affecting the object and therefore the feat (source) (IW)

Durability - Slashing / Piercing

Durability - Energy

  • Staggered by Star Lord’s surprise energy bolt (source) (IW)
  • Unaffected by a repulsor blast from the Mark L Iron Man armour (source) (IW)

  • Relatively near the Quantum Tunnel as it releases a shockwave that sends Carol Danvers flying back into rock, breaking it, and is alright (source) (End)
  • Mantis is unable to put him to sleep, instead taking a short while to put him into a stupor where he can still vaguely answer questions asked of him. After getting hit by Star Lord and Mantis shifts away from constantly trying to put him to sleep, he snaps awake (source) (IW)

Infinity Gauntlet

  • Forged by the dwarves that made the likes of Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, the Infinity Gauntlet was created to be capable of holding the power of all six Infinity Stones, allowing Thanos to easily use them. While he does need to close his fist to utilise them, this can be overcome by just grabbing the stone with his other hand. Each stone fits into an indent on either a knuckle or the back of the hand, seemingly attracting them into place when they’re extremely close. For a full view of what all forms of the gems are capable of, please reference the Infinity Stones respect thread. (source) (IW)
  • Blocks a bullet from the Winter Soldier’s gun (source) (IW)
  • Blocks a slash from the Mark L Iron Man armour (source) (IW)

Infinity Gauntlet - Space

  • Stops Loki’s arm as he tries to stab him (source) (IW)
  • Thanos as the Hulkbuster phase through him and continue into some stone before having it rematerialize, trapping it (source) (IW)
  • Makes War Machine’s projectiles disappear when it comes in range of Thanos, before constricting him with energy and telekinetically throwing him aside (source) (IW)
  • Shields against a beam of energy from Wanda (source) (IW)
  • Makes wormholes to travel around the universe quickly; appears to have energy bolts phase through him in the process of doing this (source) (IW)
  • Appears to have energy bolts phase through him in the process of making wormholes (source) (IW)
  • Creates a small black hole before throwing it forwards (source) (IW)
  • Disables Falcon’s wings somehow (source) (IW)

Infinity Gauntlet - Reality

  • Creates an illusion over the ruined Titan while Thanos keeps it activated, letting Doctor Strange see how it used to be, with it disappearing once he releases the stone (source) (IW)
  • Disguises Knowhere, as while before it looked to be empty outside of a small bit of movement in one quadrant it was actually destroyed and in flames. As part of this illusion, a fake Thanos is created which Gamora kills with several stabs, convinced he was real until Thanos speaks, revealing he was invisible but present the whole time (source) (IW)
  • Fake Thanos created by Reality Stone is killed by stabs after snapping Gamora’s sword (source) (IW)
  • Likely the cause for pillars erupting from the ground to trap Black Widow, though it’s not seen which stone Thanos is using at that point and the last shot showed him using the Power Stone (source) (IW)
  • Causes Quill’s gun to fire bubbles, before turning it completely into bubbles (source) (IW)
  • Turns an object Gamora grabs into bubbles before she can stab herself (source) (IW)
  • Causes Drax to fall apart into pieces and Mantis to turn into ribbons, both still sentient throughout. After Thanos leaves, they revert back to normal, though it’s unknown if this is Thanos actively reverting their change or if it happened because he teleported away (source) (IW)
  • Mantis turned into ribbons by Reality Stone, still sentient, reverts after Thanos leaves (source) (IW)
  • Drax and Mantis revert after Thanos teleports away (source) (IW)
  • Turns a mass of rubble floating around him into bat-like creatures, having them swarm on Iron Man (source) (IW)

  • Shoots a beam which smashes through a giant rock before being blocked by a mirror dimension wall. Said wall was then shattered with a Power Stone punch (source) (IW)
  • Destroys a massive, multi-storey tall object driven onto Thanos (source) (IW)
  • Spreads energy across a large spaceship, creating purple explosions where it covers before quickly causes the entire ship to explode (source) (IW)
  • Blocks and deflects the Mark L Iron Man suit’s repulsors as it hits the Infinity Gauntlet (source) (IW)

Infinity Gauntlet - Time

  • Used to return Vision to life and to restore the Mind Stone after it was destroyed by Wanda, with this also pulling back in the energy shockwave created from the stone’s destruction (source) (IW)

Infinity Gauntlet - Multiple

  • The Space and Power Stones are used to torture Nebula, pulling her separated parts away from each other. As he only recently gained the Space Stone, it’s unclear if Nebula’s separated state was created prior and suspended with technology or if he put her in this state shortly before this scene (source) (IW)
  • Using the Space and Power Stones, Thanos sucks the large explosions around him to a single point on top of the Infinity Gauntlet before shooting it like a flamethrower, hitting Iron Man and sending him back through the air through a metal structure (source) (IW)
  • The Power Stone is used to break stones off of the surface of Titan’s moon (while Thanos is standing on the surface), some being enormous, and to throw them at Thanos’ opponents. The Space Stone is used to teleport the rocks from the moon to Titan, as well as possibly allowing the Power Stone to be used over such great distances (source) (IW)
  • Uses the Space and Reality Stones to pull Strange towards him, having the ground roll in the process (source) (IW)
  • With the Power and Soul Stones, creates an energy pulse around him, destroying many copies of Doctor Strange while slightly knocking back the real sorcerer, briefly knocking out his astral self (source) (IW)
  • All of the stones created an energy beam, though this was overpowered by a thrown Stormbreaker (source) (IW)
  • All of the stones used together allowed for a random half of all life in the universe to be destroyed, disintegrating into dust (source) (IW)
  • All of the stones were later used to destroy themselves, preventing their usage; using all of the Infinity Stones twice greatly harmed Thanos, almost crippling him (source) (End)
  • Using all of the Infinity Stones twice greatly harmed Thanos, almost crippling him (source) (End)

Other

  • Has a large two-bladed weapon which reflects the Iron Man Mark LXXXV’s repulsors; throws it like a boomerang (source) (End)
  • Throws his two-bladed weapon like a boomerang (source) (End)
