Devil May Cry

The Legendary Devil Hunter, Dante

The Legendary Devil Hunter, Dante

2000 years ago, The Legendary Dark Knight Sparda single handily defeated the army of Hell and its ruler. He then created a seal blocking off all of hell from the Human realm. He became a legend, both in Hell and Earth, as the most powerful demon to ever live. Later, in the 20th century, he sired twin sons with a human woman and then vanished forever. While Sparda died, Hell’s grudge against him never did. They attacked his family, and killed the mother of his children. This traumatic event forever changed the twin’s lives, setting them off in completely different yet conflicting courses in life. The youngest twin, Dante, vowed revenge on all of demon kind, his life revolved on nothing but the destruction of demon kind. He became a mercenary that specialized in the paranormal and lives his life as demon hunter.

  • Incapacitated by being impaled in the heart, regaining consciousness only after the sword was shifted (despite claiming he was napping, which was out of character given the circumstances) (source)
  • Dante’s cockiness often leads him to allow enemies to land hits, usually knowing he’s stronger. However, this overconfidence led to his incapacitation when he underestimated a demon.

  • Dante’s abilities, derived from his connection to Hell, are lost if that connection is severed (source)
  • Stats lower as his magic is drained (source)
  • Dante’s stats decline with damage taken; too much damage makes him weaker and vulnerable to weaker enemies (source)
  • In his early days, 10 minutes of fighting pushed his body to require his sword as a crutch (source)
  • Instantly regenerates from cuts and piercing attacks, but larger scale damage takes longer to regenerate and can leave him handicapped
  • Rendered nearly immobile after taking multiple point-blank shotgun blasts (source)
  • Attacks of this level do not heal fully even hours later (source)
  • Broken limbs take long to heal; his leg remained broken (source)
  • Mind control works perfectly on Dante; he willingly allowed a demon to mind control him and was only released when the controlling item was destroyed by another. (source)
  • Before awakening Demon Form, was weakened near demon realm. After Devil Trigger, no longer hindered, at worst feels a tickle due to human side. (source)
