Toph Beifong

Toph Beifong

Toph Beifong was born into one of the Earth Kingdom’s wealthiest families, but was kept a sheltered secret by her parents. Toph’s blindness, they believed, made their daughter weak and vulnerable. Little did they suspect that Toph was using her blindness to her advantage, learning earthbending (a martial art which controls minerals) from the badgermoles and soon building a secret life as a championship fighter. When the Avatar crossed Toph’s path she soon joined he and his friends on their adventure to end the Fire Nation’s war and restore balance to the world. It was during this time that Toph invented the art of metalbending and declared herself the greatest earthbender in the world. Having enjoyed her time teaching the Avatar, Toph dedicated much of her life after the war to teaching others to metalbend, and toward the end of her life became a legend throughout the world.
